Hi all, we have DOORS/RMF modules that are configured for multi-language, based upon the RMF/WEXP multi-language feature. With this feature, for each attribute you wish to have a translation for, you define a mapping. For most our our modules we have English and German, so I have defined additional attributes "Object Heading [DE]" and "Object Text [DE]" and configured the mapping for WEXP. This all works fine...however for editing the modules it is not that convenient. What I want to do is to have for example, the standard view, where the main column includes Object Heading and Object Text, but then I want a standard view for German, where the main column includes "Object Heading [DE]" and "Object Text [DE]". Is there a way to do this?? I can of course create a Layout DXL column to do this....but then the values in this column cannot be edited....and I need to have it editable. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Kristian. SR7W_Kristian_Ashton - Wed Sep 10 07:36:01 EDT 2014 |
Re: Recreate Main column with attributes other than Object Heading and Object Text Not realistically. You could I suppose have a text attribute that looks exactly like the main column, and attach a post-attr-save trigger for that attribute, where any changes made to it are reflected in the actual Text/heading; likewise any changes to the actual text/heading cause recreation of this text attribute value. |

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Although I have worked with DOORS and DXl for a long time...I am not quite sure as to how to attach (or create) post-attr-save triggers. Also, you mentioned creating a text attribute that looks like the main column....but wouldn't this then have to be a DXL attribute? If so, then the users cannot directly edit this either. Or am I wrong here? Would you possible have an example? Thanks again. |
Re: Recreate Main column with attributes other than Object Heading and Object Text I can imagine a solution as follows: - Create Object Heading [EN] and Object Text [EN] attributes - Copy Object Heading and Object Text into the EN equivalents - Create a string module attribute Current Display Language with the value EN - Create a post-attr-save trigegr on Object Heading/Text to copy value to Object Heading/Text [Current Display Language] - Menu item Edit English - if Current Display Language != EN - copy Object Heading/Text [EN] to Object Heading/Text - set Current Display Language to EN - Menu item Edit German - same functionality as above, but for DE attribute
One problem with this solution, is that it will generate lots of history entries on Object Heading/Text, whenever the Edit language is changed. |
